Allisyn With a Chance: An Interview with "So Random!" Actress Allisyn Ashley Arm
Emily Koopman: What originally inspired you to become an actress?
Allisyn Ashley Arm: My family took me to lots of theatre, so acting looked fun, but I was four, so I also wanted to be an astronaut and a pirate.
Emily: If you could play any role -- in any time period - what would it be and why?
Allisyn: I'd LOVE to be in one of the upcoming Star Wars movies! I'm huge fan, and I already my own light-saber and laser pistol.
Emily: What's the best advice anyone has ever given you, and who gave it to you?
Allisyn: Before I film, or audition, my Dad says, "Bring it!" If you hold anything back, no one will know what you're capable of.
Emily: There are a lot of fake people in Hollywood, who is the most genuine person you've met?
Allisyn: The most genuine movie star I've ever met was Michael Douglas. I worked on a movie called King of California with him. My part wasn't huge, but he made me feel welcome. Michael introduced himself at the first meal break, and even sat down to eat with my dad and I.
Emily: If you weren't an actress, what would you be? Or what would you study at college?
Allisyn: I'm actually taking college classes right now. I'm studying 3D graphics and animation. If I wasn't an actress, I'd probably pursue my art and movie making career and follow in the steps of Tim Burton.
Emily: You have a ton of funny YouTube videos, what inspires those?
Allisyn: Thanks! Some videos are specific sketch ideas or goofy songs, and the rest were inspired by running jokes with friends.
Emily: If we looked in your bag, what would we find?
Allisyn: I don't carry a purse, but I do have small backpack that I carry around. It's filled with sketchbooks, pens, pencils, a water bottle and granola bars.
Emily: Do you have any favorite movies or TV shows?
Allisyn: As an actor, I justify the many hours I spend watching TV as studying. I've watched every season of The Office, Family Guy, My Name Is Earl, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, White Collar, American Dad, That 70's Show, and pretty much everything else on Netflix. As for movies, I'm a huge Napoleon Dynamite fan. Even had the wig, glasses, and "Vote for Pedro" shirt at one point.
Emily: You have a very unique style, how interested are you in fashion, and would you ever consider having a clothing line?
Allisyn: Thanks! I'd love to have a line of graphic t-shirts with my quirky monster sketches on them.
Emily: Is there a question you've always wanted to be asked? If so, what is it and what is the answer?
Allisyn: I love getting asked the question "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" I'm a big fan of Important Things with Demetri Martin, and would love to produce and star in my own comedy show one day. Hosting or being a part of Saturday Night Live is also on my To Do list. I've also had the pleasure of having my first art exhibition in February 2012, and would love to continue selling art and being displayed in galleries, maybe end up in a museum someday…. My art, not me….
